Maria manages finances for the Visitation Church as well as the CCV, where her office is located. Outside of work she enjoys going to the movie theater and spending time with her parents.

Dwi has been with the ESL program since she helped start it in July 2010. In addition to her teaching job she is actively involved in CCV’s other programs and events such as the community dinners, fund raising events, and seasonal festivities. She loves her work at CCV because it allows her to be a meaningful instrument in the community in a way that seems impossible as an individual. Her favorite quote that has been at the base of her community work is, “Life worth living is the life lived for others.”

Jonathan is motivated to bridge the gap between students’ dreams and their future endeavors. He has over a decade of experience working with youth in cities across the East Coast. He says, “It is our goal to gear our students with the resources, tools, and experiences needed to inspire them to be the leaders of tomorrow.”

David is the former Executive Director of the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children, where he built a program which opened 17 elementary school libraries in Philadelphia, providing more than 5,000 students with access to a school library. In honor of Black History Month in 2013, he was named a Philadelphia “Gamechanger” by KYW1060 Newsradio. David also served as the founding Executive Director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Burlington County, NJ. David lives with his wife, Nancy, and two dogs, Erin and Molly.

Sr Georgia’s been involved in education for the past 40 years as teacher and principal. She’s presently working at CCV in literacy, specifically pre-GED and basic education. Sr Georgia loves what she does and is inspired by the women she works with. In her spare time she’s learning to be a quilter. She’s now into her second quilt! She’s also an avid reader and loves photography, especially taking photos of nature.

Casey is a seminarian, studying for the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, PA at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbrook, PA. At the Center he assists in the food pantry (including the development of database software) and with preparing for Center community events.

Dominique works passionately with high school students helping them to develop their transition into adulthood, socially, academically, and spiritually. While a student at Little Flower Catholic High School, she was class president and she recently received the Catholic Social Services employee of the year award.

Alice helps maintain a clean and safe Center for the community. Alice loves basketball, football, and making others smile. If you ever need some cheering up, look for Alice!

Jennifer is a current college student studying Communication/Broadcast. As evening receptionist, she handles the phone for the Visitation Parish and Community Center. She enjoys music and fashion, loves to sew and make clothing.

Charlotte Mulvihill, Adult Educator, a member of the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, is retired from a lifetime career of teaching biology at community colleges.

Brenda first join the Center as a Hospitality volunteer. She later become CCV staff as evening receptionist. Brenda continues to welcome and direct guests but also manages calls, answers questions, provides parish support, and keeps order in the Center. When not at work, she enjoys spending all her free time with her children and family, cooking, watching movies, and just having fun.

Sister Betty Scanlon is a Sister of Mercy and Director of the Community Center at Visitation. She formerly served as a Campus Minister at Gwynedd Mercy College and as the Program Director for Medicines for Humanity, an international health care non-profit which addresses healthcare needs of children and pregnant women in the developing world. She has worked in multi-cultural settings in West Philadelphia and Camden, NJ.

As a lifelong learner, Michael feels fortunate and grateful to have the opportunity to assist his students in acquiring the language skills needed in order to fully function in their newly adopted country. His favorite past times include watching and playing soccer as well as going to the movies.

With educational, work, and volunteer experience in teaching, Carolyn brings a wealth of knowledge to our Adult Education program. Her joy in teaching and working with diverse cultures is evident in her excitement and cheeriness in the classroom.

As staff at the Center for about five years, Lourdes’ spunky reputation precedes her. She manages the phones for the Visitation parish and the Center and handles any business related to the parish.
